Biography
Helrunar emerged in 2001 as a German black metal band based in the North Rhine-Westphalia region. The project began as a trio consisting of Skald Draugir on vocals, Alsvartr on drums, and Dionysos on guitar, then became a duo following the guitarist’s departure in 2008. Its debut recording, the self-released Gratr from 2003, secured a contract with Lupus Lounge that produced a 2004 split LP with Nachtmahr. The same label issued the band’s subsequent album, Frostnacht, in 2005. Helrunar resurfaced in the metal community in 2008 with the release of its third full-length, Baldr ok Iss, via Prophecy.
