Biography
With an off-kilter vocal style and an expansive range of cadences, the South Central L.A. native ICECOLDBISHOP launched his recording career through a series of singular anthems. Early standouts such as “Porch” and the aptly named “IRATE” helped him secure a contract with Epic Records, which issued his major-label debut, the pointed single “THE GOV’T GAVE US GUNS,” in 2022.
Although he had been rapping recreationally since the age of eight, the Los Angeles-born-and-raised artist waited until adulthood before committing any verses to tape. His stark first release, “Porch,” surfaced online in October 2017, pairing brooding street narratives with a dark piano backdrop. After enduring six months of homelessness, he pressed ahead through 2018 and 2019, dropping the versatile singles “Katana” and “Creep” and appearing on the COLORS platform with “IRATE.” In 2020 he continued with the Bregma-produced tracks “BITCH PLEASE” and “PUSH TO START,” later teaming with producer Kenny Beats on “DICKIES SUIT.” A 2021 performance at the Roxy Theatre in nearby West Hollywood led to his Epic partnership, which began with the December 2022 release of “THE GOV’T GAVE US GUNS,” a Kal Banx collaboration.
