Incite

Hailing from Phoenix, Arizona, the groove metal band Incite operates under the leadership of frontman Richie Cavalera, stepson of the heavy metal polymath Max Cavalera, whose credits include Sepultura, Soulfly, Nailbomb, and Cavalera Conspiracy. The group formed in 2004 around a core lineup of Cavalera, drummer Zak Sofaly, bassist Luis Marrufo, and guitarist Kevin "Dis" McAllister, channeling a ferocious blend of thrash and groove metal. Two early EPs arrived on I Scream Music—Murder in 2006 and Divided We Fall in 2008—before the quartet delivered its first full-length album, The Slaughter, in 2009. Extensive road work alongside Soulfly and Dillinger Escape Plan followed.

In 2012 Incite signed with Minus Head Records and issued its sophomore album All Out War, helmed by producer Logan Mader, the ex-Machine Head and Soulfly guitarist. Shortly after the release, McAllister departed and Gene Macazan stepped in on guitar. A sweeping personnel overhaul then removed Sofaly, Marrufo, and Macazan while bringing aboard Derek Lopez, Christopher EL, and Dru Rome; this revised configuration unveiled the band’s third album, Up in Hell, in 2014. The same roster remained intact for the subsequent releases Oppression in 2016 and Built to Destroy in 2019, the latter produced by Steve Evetts of The Dillinger Escape Plan and Suicide Silence.
