Eclectic British pop project Insecure Men put out its self-titled debut album in early 2018, drawing from exotica, early electronic pop, glam, and 1970s songwriting giants such as Harry Nilsson and the Carpenters.

Saul Adamczewski of Fat White Family and Moonlandingz, together with Ben Romans-Hopcraft of Childhood—two musicians who had attended school together—formed the group in 2015 and gathered a sizable supporting ensemble to realize their distinctly retro-leaning sound. While collaborating with Sean Lennon on the Moonlandingz project in upstate New York, Adamczewski started laying down tracks for Insecure Men, which Lennon also produced. After making its live debut in London in early 2017, the band released two singles toward the end of that year ahead of the February 2018 arrival of its self-titled debut. Later that October, Adamczewski issued a follow-up covers album titled Karaoke for One: Vol. 1, performing every part himself on material originally by George Jones, Van Morrison, and the Pogues.
