Formed in 2009, the East Texas outlaw honky tonk country outfit JB and the Moonshine Band came together after singer and songwriter JB Patterson left his advertising career behind to pursue music. He posted an audition notice locally, drawing just three players who proved ideal: drummer Gabe Guevara, guitarist Hayden McMullen, and bassist Chris Flores. With Patterson handling vocals along with banjo and guitar, the quartet quickly assembled a PA system and began accepting every available performance, crisscrossing the region in a rented U-Haul van to cultivate a following. The spring of 2010 brought an opening slot for Colt Ford, whose interest was sparked by the band’s raw sound, outlaw attitude, and original songs. Ford then placed them on his Average Joes Entertainment roster, which released the debut album Ain't Goin Back to Jail that fall. A second album, Beer for Breakfast, appeared on the same label in the spring of 2012.
