Brandon Rhyder

Brandon Rhyder, a singer-songwriter from Carthage, Texas, first displayed his distinctive voice while performing in church as a child. After finishing high school he enrolled at the University of Texas at Tyler, completing a degree in industrial technology; during his final year he took up the guitar and began writing original material. He relocated to Austin in 1999 and quickly became active in the Red Dirt scene. His debut album Because She Loves Me appeared in 2001, followed by Behind the Pine Curtain in 2003. Walt Wilkins produced Conviction, released in 2005, at which point Rhyder had become a fixture on the Texas circuit. The 2007 live set Live, issued on Apex Records, contained his first charting Texas single, “Before I Knew Your Name.” Radney Foster produced Every Night in 2008, while Rhyder returned to Wilkins for the 2010 album Head Above Water. Live at Billy Bob’s Texas arrived in 2011, and That’s Just Me followed in 2013. After a four-year absence he released a self-titled album in July 2017.
