Adam Hood

Before establishing himself through songwriting contributions to artists like Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, and Lee Ann Womack in Nashville—where his work accumulated credits rather than chart success—Adam Hood achieved notable attention upon issuing Somewhere in Between in 2018. Although he had previously put out numerous independent albums throughout the 2000s and 2010s, this particular release served as a defining declaration, highlighting his command of traditional Americana structures alongside his subtle, empathetic approach to composition.

Originating from Opelika, Alabama, Hood drew upon the Red Dirt country traditions of Texas for his musical foundation, incorporating elements of Lone Star country and Louisiana soul in balanced proportions. He commenced his professional guitar performances at age 16 with regular appearances in area dining establishments. While keeping a residence in Northport, Alabama, he also forged connections within Nashville. His initial recording, the live album 21 to Enter, came out in 2002 via Orchard. Different Groove followed in 2007 as his first studio effort, helmed by producer Pete Anderson and issued on Little Dog.

In 2011, Hood entered an agreement with Carnival Records and delivered The Shape of Things, which he promoted through performances on that year's Willie Nelson Throwdown Tour. The independent Welcome to the Big World surfaced in 2014.

A publishing arrangement with Warner/Chappell Nashville was secured by Hood in 2016, after which he associated with Dave Cobb's Low Country Sound imprint. Somewhere in Between emerged in 2018 under Dave Cobb's production.
