Biography
Coming from an English-speaking household, Jim Corcoran ranks among Canada’s foremost Francophone songwriters. He first drew notice in the duo Jim & Bertrand, formed with composer and vocalist Bertrand Gosselin, which operated between 1972 and 1979, and he still pairs carefully constructed, witty lyrics with a distinctive fusion of blues, rock, and folk.
An ardent follower of American music, Corcoran has carried out most of his recording sessions in Nashville and Memphis. Since 1994 a trio that includes guitarist Pierre Cote and bassist Daniel Hubert has served as his regular ensemble.
His broadest visibility has come from hosting a weekly Saturday-night program on CBC (Radio Canada).
