Biography
During much of her San Francisco upbringing, Jocelyn Enriquez regularly displayed her vocal abilities. Early in her teenage years she sang with the San Francisco Girls Chorus, and she later performed with the San Francisco Opera Company; those experiences secured a Classified Records contract once she reached 16. The 1994 release of her debut album Lovely drew attention from Tommy Boy Records, which issued her next project, Jocelyn, three years afterward. That same year her first single, “Do You Miss Me,” reached the R&B and dance charts, leading to tour dates with the Fugees, LL Cool J, Brandy, Mase, and Dru Hill. Upon returning to the Bay Area in 1998 she collected the Best R&B Artist trophy at the Bay Area Music Awards and received further recognition at the “Bridge Builders” Asian American Leadership Awards.
