With his earthy fusion of country, pop, and rock, Scottish-Canadian singer/songwriter Johnny Reid entered the Canadian mainstream during the mid-2000s through a run of steadily rising albums that peaked with the number-one 2010 release A Place Called Love. Multiple Juno and Canadian Country Music Association awards later, Reid solidified his reputation as a major touring draw whose voice carried with equal force across packed venues. Momentum held through the decade via 2015's Bob Ezrin-produced What Love Is All About and 2017's soul-inspired Revival.

Reid entered the world in Lanark, Scotland, before his family moved to Canada in 1988 and took up residence in Brampton, Ontario. He launched his recording career in his early twenties with the independent debut Another Day, Another Dime in 1996. The self-titled follow-up four years later performed more strongly and generated three charting singles. Wider recognition arrived with the third album, Born to Roll, issued in 2014. Its warm, full-bodied production wrapped Reid's gritty Bruce Springsteen-meets-Joe Cocker vocal style around a sincere blend of country and roots rock carrying Celtic inflections, delivering his first pair of Top Ten singles, "Time Flies" and "Missing an Angel." Further gains came with 2007's Kicking Stones and 2009's Dance with Me, each spawning several strong-performing tracks. Although Reid resided in Nashville, his primary audience stayed in Canada, where he began headlining arenas nationwide.

Closing out the decade with his first Christmas album, Reid moved to EMI for the sixth album, A Place Called Love, released in 2010. The set became his commercial apex, entering at number one on the Canadian Albums Chart. By then he had already amassed numerous Canadian Country Music Association honors and added a Juno Award for Country Album of the Year. Fire It Up followed in 2012, another Juno winner that included collaborations with Serena Ryder and Carolyn Dawn Johnson. The second holiday collection, A Christmas Gift to You, arrived in 2013 and also topped the charts. After switching to Universal Music Canada, Reid partnered with producer Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd, Alice Cooper) for 2015's What Love Is All About. Ezrin returned for 2017's Revival, which reflected a growing soul direction in Reid's work.
