Julian Nicco-Annan, performing as Juls, draws influence from hip-hop figures such as J Dilla and Swizz Beatz yet focuses on a streamlined yet intricate hybrid Afrobeats approach, illustrated by key tracks including Show Dem Camp's "Feel Alright," Stonebwoy's "Rudebwoy Love," and Mr Eazi's "Skin Tight." The British-Ghanaian artist has issued his own material as lead act, populating the album Sounds of My World (2021) and the EP High Life Sessions (2023) with productions that highlight his skill for propelling movement through subtle gestures.

Born in London, the DJ and producer grew up across England and Accra, Ghana. In the early 2010s he immersed himself in beatmaking following an initial casual engagement. After his behind-the-scenes contributions achieved wider notice, he issued his own singles in 2016 such as "Teef Teef," "With You," and "Give You Love." Leap of Faith, his debut album, appeared in 2017 and included work with Kojey Radical on "Temperature Rising," Maleek Berry and Nonso Amadi on "Early," plus Eugy, Not3s, and Kojo Funds on "Bad." The single "Maayaa" surfaced in July 2019, succeeded by the Colour project that incorporated Sweetie Irie, Sway Clarke, and Kida Kudz among its featured artists. Following several years centered on joint releases, Juls issued his debut album Sounds of My World. Its 2022 deluxe edition incorporated seven additional tracks, among them the Tay Iwar-assisted "I Got You." High Life Sessions, containing three characteristically airy productions, arrived near the close of 2023.
