Kidi

Ghanaian afrobeat singer and songwriter Dennis Nana Dwamena, performing under the name KiDi, first drew widespread attention by competing in talent shows and later carved an independent path across Ghana’s highlife landscape. Born in Accra, he actively sought exposure by appearing regularly at the “Moonlight Café” showcases created specifically for emerging performers. Early in his career he performed under several aliases—Sugar Daddy, Mr. Badman, and Gyal dem Sugar—before adopting KiDi upon entering the 2015 MTN Hitmaker contest. Victory in the competition brought a recording contract with Lynx Entertainment. He completed his studies before fully committing to music, earning a degree in Economics and Information Studies from the University of Ghana Legon in 2016. The next year he issued his breakthrough single “Say You Love Me.” His expansive first album, Sugar, arrived in 2019 together with a feature film bearing the same title. Building on that momentum, he released the 2020 EP Blue, followed by the full-length album Golden Boy in 2022.
