Biography
K-Solo, whose full alias expands to Kevin Self Organization Left Others, emerged as a New York MC whose signature technique rests on spelling words letter by letter while rhyming. Born Kevin Madison in Brentwood on Long Island, he came up alongside EPMD’s Parrish Smith and joined Redman plus Das EFX inside the Hit Squad circle. A featured verse on EPMD’s Unfinished Business arrived in 1989, followed by his own debut, Tell the World My Name, issued through Atlantic in 1990. Two years later Time’s Up appeared, closing the chapter on his connection to the now-defunct Hit Squad and EPMD. He next headed west, secured a contract with Death Row, and completed an album in 1996 that stayed unreleased because of the label’s mounting legal problems.
