The collaborative endeavor Karenn, launched by Blawan alongside Pariah, first presented its pounding low-end propulsion, intricate rhythmic layers, and saturated electronic tones via a three-track EP called Untitled in 2011, later capping the decade with the lighthearted, dancefloor-oriented full-length debut Grapefruit Regret.

Already established separately as the British pair issued material through Hessle Audio, R&S, Hinge Finger, and Clone, they merged efforts to launch Karenn. Relying exclusively on hardware instrumentation, they captured numerous spontaneous studio sessions that supplied the core of their 2011 Untitled EP. After refining an extended performance configuration throughout the following twelve months, the project unveiled its improvisational techno approach at Fabric in London. Another untitled EP surfaced several months afterward, again preserving their high-intensity stage aesthetic in recorded form. Blawan and Pariah each pursued individual paths after issuing one additional Karenn EP during 2014, with Pariah unveiling his first album Here from Where We Are on Houndstooth in 2018 while Blawan founded the Ternesc imprint and used it to issue multiple EPs plus the 2018 full-length Wet Will Always Dry.

Returning to Blawan’s Berlin workspace in 2019, the pair assembled fresh recordings whose initial output surfaced on the EP Kind of Green. Several months afterward they released their first album, the persistent and club-centric techno statement Grapefruit Regret.
