A Memphis-based contemporary gospel choir operating under the name Kevin Davidson & the Voices emerged following a rebranding of the earlier Voices of Binghampton ensemble. Their initial release on New Haven Records arrived in 1998 with the album Celebrate. Language of the Millennium appeared in 2000, after which the 2001 project Soultown USA extended the group’s integration of funk and urban contemporary textures within its vibrant arrangements. Full Circle came next in 2003, with Overflow arriving three years later in 2006. New Haven later assembled The Best of Kevin Davidson and the Voices by selecting fourteen tracks spanning ten years of the group’s output. Davidson subsequently collaborated with the UCICC Fellowship Choir on the 2013 release “The Declaration,” then returned to the Voices for the independently issued single “Help Is on the Way” in 2016.
