Biography
Kossisko, the American rapper previously active as 100s, issued multiple mixtapes under that earlier alias before shifting his identity in 2015 and recording once again as Kossisko. Born and raised in Berkley, California, the artist was sent during his teenage years by his mother to boarding school in the Ivory Coast and did not return to the United States until 2010. Drawing from Snoop Dogg and the G-Funk style that defined the West Coast scene of the 1990s, he began writing and recording original material while still performing as 100s. His debut mixtape, Ice Cold Perm, appeared in 2012, followed two years later by the follow-up Ivry. Kossisko abandoned the 100s name in 2015, resumed use of his given name, and issued the mixtape Red White N Cruel. A series of singles preceded his next release, the 2019 project LOW. Across this span his style gradually absorbed newer hip-hop approaches while still holding on to the funk that had long defined West Coast production. Several singles surfaced in 2020, among them “World of Trouble” and “Good Thing,” ahead of the 2021 release “Love Don't Live in the City.”
