Kru

In 1992 three Malaysian brothers—Norman Abdul Halim, Yusry Abdul Halim, and Edry Abdul Halim—launched the hip-hop/pop fusion act KRU, a name voiced like an acronym even though none exists. A prominent producer who had grown attached to one of their early demos urged them to form the group. Warner Asia soon signed them and issued their first album, Canggih. The trio eventually recorded and issued more than ten further albums. Drawing on their popularity throughout the region, they broadened their activities via the KRU Studios collection of businesses, which entered fields such as film, marketing, music production, and advertising.
