Letherette

Forming a production outfit from Wolverhampton in England, Andy Harber and Richard Roberts operate as Letherette, merging house, electro, and hip-hop elements into an elegant sound that sometimes echoes Dilla alongside Daft Punk. Having met as friends at eleven years old and attending college as a pair, they initiated recordings under the Letherette name during 2003. As members of the Artists' Valley collective alongside Bibio's Stephen Wilkinson, Harber and Roberts issued their initial pair of EPs via Alexander Nut's Hotep label during 2010 followed by 2011, after which they joined Ninja Tune. In that period, they crafted mixes for BTS Radio in addition to remixes for Bibio and Machinedrum. Their inaugural release on Ninja Tune, the Featurette EP, came out in 2012, with the self-titled full-length album emerging in April 2013. On 2016's Last Night on the Planet, the pair explored hip-hop and downtempo further, incorporating guest appearances from rappers Rejjie Snow and Pyramid Vritra as well as the folktronic act Jed and Lucia.
