Lil Ronny MothaF

Dallas-based trap rapper Lil Ronny MothaF, whose versatile flow shifts without effort between breathless lightspeed and languid triplets, launched his career as a teenager. Born Ronny Wright, Jr., he had considered professional sports before turning instead to entertainment. In 2010 he began working the local club circuit with several dance-oriented singles. After completing 16 mixtapes, the 2013 track “Circle” became his first national hit, reaching even Beyoncé. He signed with Dirty Water Music Group in 2015 and issued the follow-up singles “Up in the Air” and “New Year’s Resolution” in 2016. The next year he released his debut LP, The Mothaf’n Legacy, which contained the song “Vain,” written in memory of his brother Jarami, who was killed in 2011, and featured appearances by Go Yayo, Yella Beezy, and Koomlaude.
