Memphis rapper Big Boogie has built a distinctive lane through his hard-edged yet anthemic brand of Southern rap. After signing with Yo Gotti’s Collective Music Group he put out multiple singles before delivering the projects Final Nightmare in 2020 and Underrated in 2021. Definition of Big Dude arrived in 2023, followed by a steady stream of singles that includes “Wop Wop” and “Pool Party,” the latter taken from his next solo album, Ether, released in 2024.

Although born in Louisiana, Big Boogie grew up in Memphis, where music offered an early refuge from the poverty surrounding him. Drawing on firsthand encounters with street life, he began issuing his own recordings and dropped his debut mixtape, Definition of Pain, in 2017. Later that year the Pain on Paper trilogy appeared, helping him gain notice for his tough, edgy Southern style. In 2018 he performed at Yo Gotti’s annual birthday bash in Memphis and was soon mentored by the veteran rapper, who added Big Boogie to the Collective Music Group roster. His first release for the label, Final Nightmare, came out in 2020, while the full-length Underrated followed in 2021. Joint tracks with Moneybagg Yo and Gotti quickly broadened his reach, generating large streaming numbers on both digital platforms and social media. A deluxe version of Underrated surfaced in 2022, and Definition of Big Dude landed the next year. Additional singles and features continued into 2024 with “Left Right” and “Wop Wop.” That same year he issued two full-length projects: the February collaboration REDRUM Wizard with DJ Drama and, in October, the solo set Ether. The latter project spotlighted the popular track “Pool Party” featuring 42 Dugg and YTB Fatt.
