Biography
Lindsey Ray, a singer and songwriter born in Maine, initially performed as Lindsey Bachelder while displaying a soulful croon alongside skilled piano work. She concentrated on vocal development during childhood and claimed first place in a Los Angeles singing contest at age 13. At 15 she began shuttling regularly to New York City in search of a record deal, though the repeated trips eventually wore her down and led her back to Belfast, Maine, by the time she turned 20. Once resettled in her hometown, renewed creative energy prompted a steady flow of original material, one of which drew the interest of Original Signal Recordings. She signed with the fledgling imprint and moved again, this time settling on the sunlit coast of Los Angeles. Working with several high-level songwriters, she shaped a bright, emotive pop/rock approach that reached a broader audience when the single "Goodbye from California" aired during the season finale of MTV’s The Real World: Hollywood.
