Biography
Hailing from Denmark, Liss craft a yearning brand of pop that draws from the polished contours of contemporary R&B and the shimmering synth textures of the 1980s. The quartet first connected with listeners through a pair of 2015 singles before sharpening their approach across the EPs First, issued in 2016, and Second, which appeared in 2019.
Originally known as Aarhus during the members’ high-school years, the group highlights the contributions of vocalist Søren Holm, guitarist Vilhelm Strange, bassist Villads Tyrrestrup, and drummer Tobias Laust. They stepped forward in 2015 with the two-track single Try/Always, produced by Rodaidh McDonald (the xx, Savages, Jamie xx). The following year brought the four-song EP First, anchored by the track “Sorry.” Returning in 2019 with Second, the band continued to refine its sleek sonic identity.
