Emerging from San Diego in 2011, the raw husband-and-wife blues-rock pair little hurricane announced itself with the combustible first album Homewrecker, whose tracks quickly found heavy synchronization placements and brought the band broad attention. Subsequent releases Gold Fever in 2014 and Same Sun Same Moon in 2017, supported by relentless performances across both the United States and Europe, strengthened their profile. By the time the couple married and welcomed a son, those developments shaped the tone of their 2019 album Love Luck.

The project began in 2010 after Anthony “Tone” Catalano, handling vocals and guitar, responded to a Craigslist advertisement posted by drummer and vocalist Celeste “CC” Spina. Originally from Santa Cruz and Chicago respectively, the two discovered a shared passion for blues forms and older gear, allowing their unpolished, fervent style to take shape almost immediately. Homewrecker appeared that same year on the Unknown Breakthrough imprint, and several of its songs were placed in Gossip Girl, Revenge, Mistresses, and a Taco Bell advertisement. A 2013 collection of eclectic covers titled Stay Classy came out on Death Valley Records, followed the next year by Gold Fever on the same label, which entered the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart. After repeated tours through the U.S., Canada, and Europe, the duo prepared their fourth studio album. Issued in spring 2017 on Mascot Music, Same Sun Same Moon served as both their first Mascot release and their initial recording as a married couple. The arrival of their child, along with the unexpected passing of Spina’s brother, supplied the emotional core of Love Luck, released in 2019.
