Los Aptos

The indie pop ensemble Los Aptos, based in the Midwest, built its reputation on wistfully romantic ballads that helped launch the sad sierreño strain of regional Mexican music. Their first online breakthrough arrived in 2020 when the bedroom-recorded EP Mis Illusiones reached the Top 100 on Latin streaming charts. Broader notice followed in 2021 with the single "Enamorado," taken from the band's debut full-length Del Corazon. Subsequent releases demonstrated increasing refinement, including Lluvia y Sol in 2021, Historia Pa Contrar in 2022, and Descifrar in 2023.

Los Aptos originated in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where lead singer and songwriter Juan Ortega assembled the group in 2019. Ortega's childhood listening included banda LPs owned by his Mexican-born parents, alongside a growing affinity for rap and indie rock. While still attending high school he learned guitar on his own and began sharing cover songs online alongside bassist Jony Rivera. Original material soon emerged, prompting the addition of keyboardist and producer Daniel Isaias Vaides. The resulting home-recorded EP Mis Illusiones appeared in 2020 and contained the track "Eres Tu," which quickly turned viral.

The next year brought the single "Enamorado," another viral success that accumulated thousands of streams and cleared the path for Del Corazon. Lluvia y Sol followed later that same year. The band later entered a partnership with VPS Music and Warner Music Latina. Historia Pa Contrar arrived in 2022 and spotlighted the single "Confiar en Mí." The fourth album, Descifrar, surfaced in 2023 and included the single "Hace Mucho Tiempo" along with features from DannyLux and Cuco.
