Los Lara

Oaxacan family band Los Lara achieved early-2020s prominence through a guitar-centric take on Regional Mexican sounds that fuses sierreño textures with keyboards and contemporary production elements. Their breakout tracks "¿Dónde Estarás?" and "Fumando Mota" propelled the 2021 album Desde la Raíz to a peak of number 25 on the Latin Albums chart.

Frontman Liborio Lara, alongside sons Carlos Lara and Edu Lara, issued the debut full-length Prometo in 2017, yet several years passed before the music reached a broader listenership. During 2021 the group journeyed to Nuevo León, secured a deal with the Monterrey-based Serca Music imprint, and saw the label issue their seven-song EP La Polvadera. Later in the same year "Fumando Mota" became a viral success and joined fellow cuts "Tú" and "En la Nube" on Desde la Raíz. In 2022 the band sustained its rising profile by issuing the single "Quién Soy Yo."
