Lovers

Lovers came together in 2002, initially serving as an outlet for the creative output of Carolyn Berk, a highly productive singer and songwriter hailing from the East Coast. Their sound blends pop, folk, indie rock, and electronic elements in a way that evokes strong emotions. The group, known for being both reflective and unconventional, put out their first full-length album, Star Lit Sunken Ship, in 2002 via the Orange Twin imprint. Subsequent releases included Gutter and the Garden two years later, the acclaimed Sleep with Heat in 2007, and the minimalist I Am the West in 2009. With the 2010 album Dark Light, Lovers solidified as a trio by incorporating sound artist Kerby Ferris and percussionist Emily Kingan into the lineup on a permanent basis. This effort also marked their debut on Badman Records, the label that later put out Friend in the World in 2013.
