Brandon Green, a Southfield, Michigan native who has recorded as Bei Maejor, Maejor Ali, and simply Maejor, launched his career in 2005 as a contemporary R&B and pop producer, songwriter, and vocalist. While attending the University of Michigan that year, the emerging talent crafted material for Trey Songz on “Ur Behind” and for UGK’s Bun B on “Hold You Down.” He sustained a tight partnership with Trey Songz over the ensuing years and supplied productions and songwriting for LeToya, Chrisette Michele, Ginuwine, Ghostface Killah, and Monica, achieving early peaks with co-writing placements on Plies’ “She Got It Made,” Soulja Boy’s “Speakers Going Hammer,” and Lloyd’s “Cupid.”

Green secured a solo deal with Jive, a Sony imprint, and began dropping mixtapes in 2010. His self-produced, self-written “Trouble,” featuring J. Cole, entered the Billboard R&B/hip-hop chart the following August and climbed to number 34. In 2011 he handled tracks for Justin Bieber, Iggy Azalea, and Big Time Rush, while his own RCA single “Lights Down Low,” featuring Waka Flocka Flame, peaked at number 68. Re-emerging in 2013 as Maejor Ali on the Universal-distributed Island label, he issued “Lolly,” a collaboration with Bieber and Juicy J that reached the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100. Throughout the second half of the decade he logged additional studio sessions with Bieber, R. Kelly, and Austin Mahone, and he independently released further singles under the Maejor moniker, among them the Jeremih duet “Get You Alone.”
