Emerging from California's Bay Area, the rapper and producer Sage the Gemini, born Dominic Wynn Woods, first gained traction through a string of buoyant party tracks that spread rapidly online, yet his body of work also displays a sharp technical command and a steely, purposeful cadence. His initial breakthrough arrived via the 2013 U.S. Top 40 single "Gas Pedal," which featured HBK Gang associate Iamsu! and later appeared on the 2014 debut album Remember Me. The 2016 confection-themed track "Now and Later" achieved still greater global reach once Snapchat incorporated it into a promotional filter, while additional mainstream exposure came through partnerships with Nick Jonas, Flo Rida, and Chris Brown, among them the 2021 release "Baby."

Born in San Francisco in 1992, the artist began crafting rap material during his teenage years. Early attention arrived after he posted "You Should Know" to MySpace in 2008, and he soon aligned with HBK Gang alongside his longtime collaborator Iamsu!. The pivotal cut "Gas Pedal" paired Sage's measured vocal approach with a memorable hook styled after Ying Yang Twins hyphy records; the audio surfaced on video platforms in 2012, amassed more than three million streams by year's end even before an official clip appeared in 2013, and was joined on the Gas Pedal EP by another charting entry, "Red Nose."

His first full-length project, Remember Me, arrived in 2014 and included appearances by Iamsu!, Kool John, and additional guests. Subsequent standalone releases encompassed "Guantanamera" with Trey Songz and "Good Thing" with Nick Jonas. The 2016 single "Now and Later" climbed to the U.K. Top 20, earned gold certification in the United States, and attained platinum status in both Canada and Australia before landing on the 2017 mixtape Morse Code. In 2018 Sage issued "Pull Over" featuring Trina, "No Ex's" with 03 Greedo, and "Buss It" alongside Chris Brown; he also contributed to Brown's 2019 album Indigo and joined Flo Rida and Bay Area veteran E-40 on the single "Snack." Further joint work with Brown produced 2021's "Baby," after which Sage delivered the solo cut "Cereal Milk" and opened 2022 with "Numero Uno."
