Born in Berlin in 1955, German schlager singer Marianne Rosenberg first drew notice by claiming victory in a talent competition at age fourteen with her own number "Mr. Paul McCartney." Through the mid-1970s she sustained that momentum with several regional successes, among them "Fremder Mann, Er Gehört zu Mir," "Lieder der Nacht," and "Marleen." Long regarded as a gay icon across Europe, she has never stopped writing, recording, and taking the stage. The disco-infused Für Immer Wie Heute appeared in 2004.
