Mark Tremonti, a Grammy-winning vocalist, composer, and guitarist, established himself as a core founder of the multi-platinum hard rock outfits Creed and Alter Bridge. Known for his adaptable and technically masterful guitar work, he has joined forces with an array of performers such as Sevendust, Larry the Cable Guy, Bury Your Dead, and Michael Angelo Batio. He launched his own solo endeavor, Tremonti, in 2011, drawing from thrash and melodic speed metal. The project debuted in 2012 via All I Was and has since produced multiple well-received studio releases, among them the 2018 science-fiction-themed concept album A Dying Machine. In 2022 he issued the benefit-oriented covers collection Mark Tremonti Sings Frank Sinatra, followed in 2023 by the seasonal set Christmas Classics Old & New.

Detroit, Michigan, native Tremonti entered the world on April 18, 1974, and co-founded Creed alongside vocalist Scott Stapp in 1995. Bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips completed the lineup for their opening effort, the 1997 album My Own Prison, later certified six-times platinum. Their 1999 successor, Human Clay, achieved even greater commercial heights; standout tracks such as “Higher” and “With Arms Wide Open,” the latter earning a Grammy Award in 2001, propelled the record to diamond certification and eleven-times-platinum status. Weathered arrived in 2001, yet mounting friction between Stapp and Tremonti precipitated Creed’s 2004 breakup. While Stapp pursued solo work, the remaining members recruited Mayfield Four frontman Myles Kennedy to form Alter Bridge, issuing several recordings that echoed the sonic character of their prior band. Creed’s 2009 reunion prompted Tremonti to divide his schedule between the two groups. His initial solo outing, 2012’s All I Was, embraced an early Metallica-inspired thrash approach. Cauterize, released in 2015, and Dust, which followed in 2016, were tracked concurrently and featured bass contributions from Wolfgang Van Halen. The ambitious 2018 release A Dying Machine, another science-fiction concept album, was paired with a matching novel co-authored with writer John Shirley. Mark Tremonti Sings Frank Sinatra appeared in 2022, presenting a selection of Old Blue Eyes interpretations whose proceeds supported the National Down Syndrome Society. Christmas Classics Old & New, issued the next year, blended traditional holiday material with the original composition “Christmas Morning.”
