Biography
In 2003, the avant-garde/worldbeat collective Master Musicians of Bukkake assembled in Seattle, drawing upon an array of eclectic Pacific Northwest musicians. Their characteristic fusion of Far East instrumentation, fuzzed-out psychedelia, and irreverent, at times malevolent humor surfaced for the first time with the 2005 album Visible Sign of the Invisible Order, an expansive global free-for-all rooted in the ensemble’s affinity for ritualistic free improvisation. The group secured its place in the “outsider music” community by initiating a planned trilogy of gamelan, percussion, and electric guitar-driven ceremonial chaos with 2009’s Totem One; Totem 2 followed in 2010.
