Biography
Ramesses originated in Dorset, England, fueled by a thirst for retaliation. Nearly ten years earlier, founders Tim Bagshaw on guitar and Mark Greening on drums had formed the rhythm section of the storied doom trio Electric Wizard, with Bagshaw handling bass duties. Mounting internal tensions culminated in late 2003 when bandmate Jus Oborn abruptly dismissed the pair, an event both sides described with bitterness. Almost immediately, they enlisted bassist and vocalist Adam Richardson, whose prior credits included Lord of Putrefaction and Thy Grief Eternal, and began shaping their own psychedelic doom and sludge sound. That vision first surfaced on the 2005 EP We Will Lead You to Glorious Times and resurfaced two years later on the full-length Misanthropic Alchemy. In between, the group toured the United Kingdom in 2006 alongside Sourvein, another act affected when Electric Wizard acquired guitarist Liz Buckingham, and in 2008 they promoted their debut album through multiple European metal festivals, though some scheduled appearances failed to occur. Their second album, Take the Curse, arrived in 2010.
