Born October 8, 1997, in Forte dei Marmi, Italy, Matteo Bocelli arrived as the younger son of Andrea Bocelli and Enrica Cenzatti, the tenor’s first spouse. Elder brother Amos performs on piano, while younger half-sister Virginia also sings. After beginning piano studies in childhood, Matteo received instruction at the Lucca Conservatory during his school years; in 2015 he commenced vocal training with his father and later earned a vocal-performance degree from the same conservatory.

His first public appearance took place in 2016 at the annual summer concert held at Lajatico’s Teatro del Silenzio, where he delivered Verdi arias alongside Sumi Jo and Leo Nucci. The next year he made his American debut at the David Foster and Friends Competition in Washington, receiving warm audience response, appeared with Jennifer Lopez in a Guess clothing campaign, and sang at the Colosseum during his father’s Celebrity Fight Night benefit, an event that also featured Steven Tyler, Sir Elton John, and José Carreras.

Bocelli entered the recording studio in 2018 on his father’s album Si, joining Andrea for the duet Fall on Me. Issued as a single, the track included a father-and-son video and appeared on the soundtrack of The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. After performing with his father at the 2019 Royal Variety Performance honoring the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Matteo contributed Sir Elton’s Can You Feel the Love Tonight from The Lion King to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s 2020 collection Disney Goes Classical.

Under contract with Capitol Records, he issued his debut single Solo in 2021. Additional singles followed in 2022, among them the duet Until She’s Gone with Sebastián Yatra. That same year he appeared with his father and sister Virginia on A Family Christmas, made his screen-acting debut in Three Thousand Years of Longing, and performed the end-credit song Cautionary Tale by Tom Holkenborg. His first solo album was slated for release in 2023.
