Biography
Anna Oxa, the Italian singer and actress known by the nickname "la Voce e il Cuore" (the Voice and the Heart), first stepped into the spotlight with the track "Fiorellin del Prato" upon turning fifteen. Two years after that breakthrough she secured second place at the celebrated San Remo Festival performing "Una Emozione da Poco." In Italy's film world she claimed her first leading role in the feature Machio, Femina, Fiore, Frutto helmed by Ruggero Miti.
Once her opening album Oxanna appeared, the rising Italian pop talent issued Anna Oxa, which featured a well-received cover of Patti Smith's "Because the Night." In 1982 she parted ways with RCA to join CBS, a move that led directly to the pivotal album Per Sognare, Per Cantare, Per Ballare and its hit single "Senza di Me" (What About Me).
