Eros Ramazzotti stands out as an Italian singer and songwriter whose records have achieved massive sales across Western Europe and Latin America alike. His recognizable tenor, sometimes carrying a gritty and reedy quality, combines with an earnest delivery to define a pop and rock approach that moves fluidly between adult contemporary and classical crossover territory. Early recognition arrived in the mid-1980s when the then-twenty-something performer scored major chart success with tracks such as "Una Storia Importante" and "Adesso Tu." Throughout the next ten years he refined his craft as a songwriter, sustaining both critical respect and strong commercial results. Between the middle and later portions of the 1990s he secured at least seven Top Ten placements on the Latin charts; after the 1994 release Tutte Storie he also lodged a dozen albums inside the Top Ten on Latin and Heatseeker rankings while accumulating dozens of streaming-chart entries. The thirteenth studio album, Vita Ce N'è from 2018, marked his eleventh Italian number-one record when compilations are excluded, and one year afterward the single "Per le Strade una Conzone" featuring Luis Fonsi attained gold status.

Ramazzotti entered the world on October 28, 1963, in Rome, Italy, and launched his recording career in the early 1980s through the DDD label. Although the 1982 standalone single "Ad un Amico" introduced him commercially, the decisive breakthrough occurred in 1984 when he earned Newcomer of the Year honors at the Sanremo Music Festival for "Terra Promessa." Issued the same year, that single achieved breakout status and paved the way for the full-length debut Cuori Agitati in 1985, which yielded the notable follow-up hit "Una Storia Importante." The track also became his first international success, topping the Italian charts after its 1985 Sanremo performance, reaching number two for three weeks in France, and landing inside the Swiss Top Ten. Another key single, "Adesso Tu," performed at the 1986 Sanremo Music Festival, further extended his reach beyond Italy.

Beyond the singles, Ramazzotti established himself as a formidable album artist when Nuovi Eroi in 1986, In Certi Momenti in 1987, and In Ogni Senso in 1990 each ascended to number one on the Italian albums chart and entered the Top Ten in additional European territories. The 1993 album Tutte Storie represented a significant advance; it appeared simultaneously in Spanish as Todo Historias, achieved widespread success across Western Europe, and introduced the bilingual single "Cose della Vita." Supporting dates took him to Latin America for the first time, covering more than a dozen nations, while a new worldwide distribution agreement with BMG strengthened his global audience. Dove C'è Musica followed in 1996, capitalizing on expanding popularity by topping charts in much of Western Europe and producing the major international hit "Più Bella Cosa."

After reaching peak visibility, Ramazzotti paused studio work for four years, issuing only the 1997 greatest-hits collection Eros that featured newly recorded versions of earlier material such as "Terra Promessa" and "Una Storia Importante." Early in the new century he resumed with the sophisticated, adult-oriented trilogy Stilelibero in 2000, 9 in 2003, and Calma Apparente in 2005, each of which topped the charts. E2 arrived in 2007 as another retrospective, this time presenting collaborative reinterpretations of past songs alongside fresh material, most prominently the chart-topping "Non Siamo Soli" recorded with Ricky Martin. Ali e Radici in 2009 continued the commercial momentum, holding the Italian top spot for six consecutive weeks and delivering the international single "Parla con Me."

The live set 21.00: Eros Live World Tour 2009/2010 documented performances from the Ali e Radici trek and presented two discs of career-spanning hits. In 2012 Mis Mejores Canciones de Amor gathered fourteen Spanish-language love songs, preceding the November release of Noi, his first album for Universal. Fronted by the single "Un Angelo Disteso al Sole," the project earned gold certification in seven European countries, reached the Top 40 in eighteen territories including the Latin Pop and Top Latin Albums charts in the United States, and incorporated guest appearances by Nicole Scherzinger, Il Volo, Hooverphonic, and Club Dogo. Ramazzotti maintained an intensive touring schedule over the ensuing two years while his previous label released more than five compilations plus a double-disc thirtieth-anniversary edition of Eros. The next collection of original studio material, Perfetto, appeared in 2015; co-produced with Claudio Guidetti and co-written song-by-song by Ramazzotti, it topped the Italian pop charts, received platinum certification at home, and attained gold status in Belgium, Switzerland, and Austria while placing inside the Top 20 across ten or more additional European markets.

Following another extensive tour, the thirteenth studio album Vita Ce N'è, issued as Hay Vida in Spain, arrived in late 2018 and featured three duets: "Vale Per Sempre" with Alessia Cara, "Per Le Strade Una Canzone" with Luis Fonsi, and "Per Il Resto Tutto Bene" with Helene Fischer. It debuted at number one on the Italian pop charts, simultaneously entered the Top 20 in Belgium, Germany, and Holland, and preceded a world tour early the next year. A thirty-fifth anniversary edition of Nuovi Eroi, also titled Héroes de Hoy, was released in 2021 on Sony Music Latin.
