Biography
From her earliest years, Italian pop singer Antonella Ruggiero performed at childhood parties, marking the initial phase that would lead to local prominence in the years ahead. She pursued studies at the Fine Arts Academy before taking a designer role at an advertising agency. Ruggiero entered the ranks of Matia Bazar in 1975, the popular vocal group established by Aldo Stilita that earned worldwide acclaim by the close of the 1970s. October 1989 marked her choice to exit the ensemble. A formative interval spent in India preceded her entry into solo work via the 1996 album Libera. Registrazioni Moderne followed in 1997 under the production of Roberto Colombo and contained the song "Per Un'Ora d'Amore," which ascended Italy's principal charts. At the 1998 San Remo Festival she secured second place with the performance of "Amore Lontanissimo."
