Enrico Ruggeri, the Italian rock singer, launched his musical path through Josafat, a band assembled in 1973 and shaped by British rock sounds from the closing years of the previous decade. He promptly assembled a fresh venture titled Champagne Molotov with Silvio Cappecia, where the pair crafted their earliest original material in 1975. Two years on, punk rock exerted the dominant influence, prompting the outfit to adopt the name Decibel while sharpening its overall edge. That momentum positioned the group to support high-profile overseas acts including the Heartbrakers and Adam and the Ants. The 1979 release of the album Vivo Da Re coincided with Decibel’s entry in the San Remo Festival, where it delivered the song “Contessa.” In 1980 Ruggeri chose to reassemble Champagne Molotov, enlisting Luigi Schiavone, Roberto Rossi, Roberto Pulix, and Silvano Bolzoni to capture his debut solo album. February 1996 brought formal recognition of three million records sold across the singer’s career to date.
