Singer Loredana Bertè entered the world on September 20, 1950, in Bagnara Calabra, Italy. Across an extensive professional span, she receives recognition for bringing multiple stylistic elements into the Italian pop landscape. Early on she ranked among the initial artists to incorporate reggae, heard on “E la Luna Busso,” and rap, featured on the single “Movie.” She grew up in a household oriented toward music and counted the vocalist Mia Martini, who enjoyed comparable success, among her siblings. Prior to entering the studio she had worked as a nude model; her first release arrived in 1974 under the title Streaking. The album that followed twelve months later, Normale o Super, brought widespread attention through the track “Sei Bellissima.”

Continued releases during the late 1970s and early 1980s drew only lukewarm responses, leading Bertè to part ways with her established producer Mario Lavezzi and begin a new collaboration with Ivano Fossati. Under Fossati’s guidance she produced Traslocando in 1982, widely regarded as her most accomplished recording and anchored by the signature song “Non Sono una Signora.” Several further well-received projects followed, including Jazz in 1983, Savoir Faire in 1984, and Carioca in 1985. In 1988 she wed the athlete Björn Borg. The ensuing period remained creatively productive, encompassing additional chart-performing albums and repeated appearances at the Festival di Sanremo, yet the marriage proved unstable and concluded in 1995. Two years afterward the suicide of her sister prompted Bertè to withdraw from public activity for an extended interval.

Her most prominent return occurred through participation in the 2004 reality program MusicFarm. The exposure restored the audience backing that supported her 2005 album Babybertè, which entered the national charts at number two and stood as her most successful effort to date.
