Giorgia entered the Italian music scene as a pop vocalist in 1993, issuing her debut self-titled album whose single “E Poi” quickly gained traction at home. Two years later she claimed victory at the San Remo Festival with “Come Saprei,” an achievement that propelled the subsequent album Come Thelma e Louise to become her strongest commercial release up to that point. For her third album she worked both in the studio and on stage, producing the hit single “Strano Il Mio Destino” and an identically titled record that maintained steady sales. She also issued the concert albums Natural Woman and One More Go Round while contributing to collaborative projects alongside Andrea Bocelli, Elio e Le Storie Tese, and Pino Daniele.

Her 1997 release Mangio Troppa Cioccolata stood as the pinnacle of her discography in terms of success, yet the albums that followed—Girasole in 1999, Senza Ali in 2001, and Ladra Di Vento in 2003—each earned at least five-times platinum certification. An MTV Unplugged collection appeared in 2005, and her seventh studio effort, Stonata, arrived in 2007. The following year she issued the greatest-hits compilation Spirito Libero: Viaggi di Voce 1992-2008, after which recording activity slowed for roughly three years. Her return came with 2011’s Dietro Le Apparenze, which topped the Italian charts, remained on those charts for more than twelve months, registered strong showings in Switzerland, and received widespread popular recognition. Senza Paura, unveiled at the close of 2013, likewise dominated domestically and stayed on the Italian charts throughout 2014 and afterward.
