Biography
Paola Turci, the Italian pop singer, first stepped onto a live stage at the San Remo Festival in 1986. Two years after that appearance she issued her debut album Ragazza Sola Ragazza Blu. Her rise to prominence occurred in 1989, when the track “Bambini” from her self-titled album achieved widespread commercial success. She followed with the 1993 release Ragazze, then delivered Una Sgommata e Via in 1995 and Volo Cosi the next year. Also in 1996 Turci left BMG for WEA, where she scored her next major hit, “Mi Manchi Tu,” a song derived from John Waite’s “Missing You.” The subsequent singles “Oltre le Nuvole” and “Mi Basta il Paradiso” reinforced her standing as one of Italy’s most cherished pop artists, and across the ensuing two decades she continued to issue multiple platinum- and gold-certified albums. Early in 2017 she unveiled the single “Fatti Bella per Te” ahead of the album Il Secondo Cuore, which promptly reached the top of the charts. Outside her recording career she has written two books and partnered with several non-profit organizations.
