Born in Rome on April 9, 1975, Fabrizio Moro—born Fabrizio Mobrici—picked up the guitar during childhood. Early on he joined cover bands that interpreted material from Guns N' Roses, the Doors, and U2. His debut single, “Per Tutta Un'altra Destinazione,” appeared in 1996. Drawing on the same musicians who had supported him for years, he issued his self-titled first album, Fabrizio Moro, in 2000 and, in the same season, appeared in the Young Artists section of the Sanremo Music Festival with the rock-driven “Un Giorno Senza Fine.”

Four years later he put out the power ballad “Eppure Pretendevi di Essere Chiamata Amore,” while “Situazioni Della Vita” was selected for the South American–targeted compilation Italianos Para Siempre alongside tracks by Lucio Dalla, Alex Britti, and Claudio Baglioni. In 2005 he supplied “Ci Vuole un Business” for the soundtrack of an Italian Red Cross social campaign. At the 2007 Sanremo Music Festival, Moro captured both the Young Artists section and the Critics Award with his own mafia-themed composition “Pensa.” The accompanying album Pensa arrived simultaneously and featured the track “Fammi Sentire la Voce,” which he later performed at Festivalbar that year.
