Umberto Tozzi

From his earliest years, Italian pop singer Umberto Tozzi displayed a passion for music, entering the group Off Sound in 1968 before linking up with Adriano Pappalardo. His first chart success arrived with the 1974 single “Un Corpo un ’Anima,” after which he issued his debut album, Donna Amante Mia, in 1976. Ti Amo appeared the next year, and the well-received Tu followed in 1978. The subsequent year brought his decisive breakthrough when “Gloria” ascended the Italian and Latin American charts, a track that later received a cover by Laura Branigan on her self-titled debut record in 1982.
