Biography
Born in New Orleans, rapper Max Minelli spent his formative years in Southern California. His mother's coworker happened to run a recording studio, giving the ten-year-old his first chance to lay down a track inspired by Ice Cube's AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted. The session proved satisfying, yet a return to Louisiana soon severed his ties to the industry. Undeterred by the setback, Minelli continued honing his rhymes until age thirteen, when he crossed paths with Baton Rouge rapper C-Loc, who operated his own imprint. Minelli then became part of C-Loc's Concentration Camp collective, contributing to multiple entries in the C-Loc Presents Camp series. C-Loc's incarceration in 2000 left Minelli without that support system, prompting him to launch solo projects alongside Concentration Camp associates J-Von and the emerging producer Happy Perez, whose later work would include collaborations with Baby Bash. Momentum arrived with the 2005 album Get Served, a regional Southern staple that caught the ear of Koch executives. Minelli inked a deal with the label the following year and flooded the market with mixtapes to build anticipation for his next official effort. Executive-produced by Perez, Remedy appeared on Koch in 2008.
