Biography
Originating from Bradford, England, pop-reggae vocalist Melissa Steel first drew attention in July 2014 by guesting on dance producer Kove’s “Way We Are.” Just fourteen days later she issued her own lead debut, the dancehall-flavored “Kisses for Breakfast” featuring Popcaan. Both tracks performed strongly: the earlier single climbed to number 30 on the U.K. pop chart, yet the follow-up quickly overtook it and peaked at number ten. Before the year closed, Steel appeared on further notable releases from Krishane (“Drunk and Incapable”) and Blonde (“I Loved You”). Following a MOBO nomination for Best Newcomer, she returned in 2015 with the single “You Love Me?,” a collaboration with Wretch 32.
