Biography
Joe Higgins, recording as Metrist, grew up in Cambridge before moving to Brighton and establishing himself as a British techno producer whose gritty, suspenseful dance tracks draw from industrial music and the U.K. rave continuum. His first outing arrived in late 2012 with the Argent EP on Nineteen89. After delivering a remix for Myler, he issued his second project, the Doorman in Formant EP, through Fifth Wall Records in early 2014, complete with a rework by Eomac (Ian McDonnell of Lakker). Later that year the U.K. imprint Resin presented The People Without, Metrist’s noisiest and most experimental statement to that point. Following the 2015 Timedance 12" “The West End as It Will Be,” issued under the alias L.SAE, he settled at Opal Tapes and shared the split cassette The World Is Order, Incarnate with label founder Basic House. The next year sister imprint Black Opal released the LP This Is for Sore Is Just There.
