Biography
British electronic producer Josiah Gladwell, who records as K-Lone, maintains a mysterious studio profile defined by his experimental and frequently abstract sonic environments. After surfacing in 2015, he demonstrated an inventive method that merges computers, field recordings, synthesizers, and numerous percussion instruments into atmospheric pieces, evident on the 2017 In the Dust EP and the 2023 album Swells.
Originally from London and now residing in Brighton, England, Gladwell began as a drummer in punk and noise-rock groups before turning toward electronic composition. Under the K-Lone alias he established the Wisdom Teeth imprint alongside fellow London experimentalist Facta, drawing early notice via a 2015 split EP alongside Etch. The following year he joined L.A. rapper Ill Chill on the Rare Jewels EP for Wych. In 2017 he issued further expansive dub-techno material on the Paris-based Soundman Chronicles with the In the Dust EP, which was succeeded in 2020 by The Falls EP. His second long-player, Swells, appeared in 2023 and spanned deep house to left-field R&B while incorporating work with singer Eliza Rose, notably the dub-infused ballad “With U.”
