Michael Kiske entered the world in Germany during 1968 and first gained substantial attention in the music industry through his association with Helloween. Serving as the band’s lead vocalist from 1987 until his exit in 1993, he later issued his debut solo effort, Instant Charity, in 1996, which included contributions from Iron Maiden members and preceded the release of Readiness to Sacrifice by several years. During the intervening period he took on numerous guest vocal assignments, among them a credited appearance under the alias “Ernie” on Avantasia’s The Metal Opera and a performance on Gamma Ray’s Land of the Free. Shifting direction away from metal, Kiske launched the short-lived modern rock outfit Supared in 2003 while, on his own, unveiling the pop-focused album Kiske in 2006 and reinterpreting several Helloween tracks on the 2008 collection Past in Different Ways. In 2009 he established the band Unisonic.
