Biography
Deriving her stage name from the fabled Greek monarch, singer Midas the Jagaban applied her "rightest touch" to the Afrobeat sound of the 2020s by issuing the seasonal standouts "Come We Bill Ehh" and "Party with a Jagaban" before unveiling her first EP, Midas Touch.
Hailing from Lambeth in South London, the unidentified vocalist Midas the Jagaban stepped forward in summer 2020 with the streaming smash "Come We Bill Ehh," an infectious Afrobeat cut that quickly amassed millions of plays. September's "Party with a Jagaban" broadened her palette by folding in U.K. rap and electronic textures, yielding a second underground favorite. That one-two punch secured her standing in the British scene and paved the way for year-end release Midas Touch, a sunlit set of Afrobeat anthems produced by Rexxie, Zino Milly, and AoD.
