Barcelona native Morad forged a rapid-fire rap approach by drawing on his hip-hop and electronic roots, stepping onto the Spanish rap circuit in the late 2010s with a flow that matched the energy of his dancefloor-driven beats. His ascent accelerated sharply in the 2020s, landing him at the top of the PROMUSICAE charts twice during 2021—first via the Bizarrap collaboration “Morad: BZRP Music Sessions #47,” then with the standalone track “Pelele.”

He took his stage name from his given name, Morad El Khattouti El Horami, and grew up in Barcelona, where he started writing rhymes at age 14. Early releases leaned toward broader commercial textures, as heard on the unhurried, dembow-rooted cuts “Lo Que Quiera” and “Un Cuento,” yet his first mixtape already signaled a wider palette; titled M.D.L.R. (Mec De La Rue) after a phrase common in French drill circles, the 2019 project showcased his command of reggaeton, trap, and electronic textures alike. By the end of that year his productions had shifted further, allowing him to glide between reggaeton on “Ven a Ver,” drill on “Aguantando,” and Afrobeats-tinged material on “Avisado” while employing flexible flows and Auto-Tune.

The style that would define him surfaced clearly on the 2020 release “Les Duele,” where his accelerated delivery locked into a full-throttle dance arrangement rather than a conventional rap backing. Comparable traits surfaced across the ensuing 2020 singles “Bobo,” “Yo No Voy,” and “Motorola,” which sharpened the template he would carry forward. With that foundation in place, 2021 elevated him from emerging act to international figure; alongside smaller successes such as “Soñar,” “Cuando Ella Sale,” and “Cómo Están?,” he scored his first number one through his guest spot on Bizarrap’s BZRP Sessions series, which surpassed 100 million streams and topped the PROMUSICAE ranking. The follow-up single “Pelele,” issued a month afterward, delivered his second chart-topping hit. Following a Best Urban Album nomination at the Premios Odeón, he entered 2022 with the joint EP Capítulo 1 alongside Beny Jr and K y B, issued among a run of solo tracks and guest appearances.
