Myke Towers, an urbano songwriter and rapper raised in Puerto Rico, moves between languid, introspective cadences and brisk, high-pitched deliveries. This range helped him reach number 12 on the Latin Rhythm Albums chart in 2016 with his debut mixtape, El Final del Principio, and then claim the top slot on the Latin Albums chart while entering the Billboard 200 with his 2020 follow-up, Easy Money Baby. Frequent partnerships with Farruko, Becky G, Bad Bunny, and Piso 21 accompanied a steady flow of standalone tracks such as the 2020 release “La Nota” alongside Manuel Turizo and Rauw Alejandro and the 2021 remix of “Ella No Es Tuya” featuring Rochy RD and Nicki Nicole. Later that year Lyke Mike again placed him high on Latin charts, and 2023’s LA VIDA ES UNA became his third consecutive Top Ten album. In November he issued the 23-track, stylistically broad set LVEU: Vive la Tuya...No la Mi, which also landed inside the Top Ten of Top Latin Albums.
Born in Puerto Rico in 1994, Towers began gravitating toward music during early adolescence, with Drake emerging as a central inspiration. He signed with the Young Kingz collective in 2013; the affiliation prompted his 2017 name adjustment from Mike Towers to honor the imprint’s initials. One year after joining, he started uploading freestyles to SoundCloud, where cuts including “Dia de Cobro,” “Interesante,” and “Contra Quien Sea” accumulated millions of plays, the last of these drawing praise from DJ Khaled for its inventive use of Boricua rhythms. Towers self-released El Final del Principio to streaming platforms in 2016; the project contained eight tracks plus two additional numbers, surpassed ten million streams, and registered on the Latin Rhythm Albums chart.
That breakthrough quickly turned him into a sought-after guest, leading to work with Farruko, Bryant Myers, and numerous others. In 2018 he appeared on Alex Rose’s streaming hit “Darte” and the charting “Forma en Que Me Miras” with Sammy, Lenny Tavarez, and Rafa Pabon. February 2019 brought the Farruko collaboration “Si Se Da,” which surpassed 160 million streams, while March saw him featured on Mariah’s charting single “Celos.” The following month he dropped “La Playa,” whose video surpassed 200 million views. June’s “Estamos Arriba” with Bad Bunny reached number three on the chart, and less than a month later “Dollar,” his joint effort with Becky G, climbed the charts on the strength of 118 million views. September’s video single “Piensan” tallied 45 million views inside two weeks. After joining Kali Uchis for a Billboard-sponsored industry summit where they discussed future collaboration, Towers released the video single “Hace un Mes” via One World Music and Casablanca Records, which gathered more than 11 million streams in its first week. “Rutina” and the Maluma-and-Farruko remix of “La Playa” closed out the year.
In January 2020 he unveiled his sophomore album, Easy Money Baby, which debuted at number 55 on the Billboard 200 and simultaneously topped Top Latin Albums. The Rochy RD and Nicki Nicole remix “Ella No Es Tuya” arrived in February 2021. That April he returned with his second studio set, Lyke Mike, entering the Billboard 200 at number 33 and reaching number three on Top Latin Albums. Featuring appearances by Miky Woodz, Jon Z, Ñengo Flow, and additional guests, the project steered away from the reggaeton of his earlier work toward deeper explorations of hip-hop, trap, and drill. Further non-album singles followed, among them 2022’s “Ulala” with Daddy Yankee. April 2023 brought his third album, LA VIDA ES UNA, which, like its predecessors, entered the Latin Albums chart inside the Top Ten and included contributions from Arcangel, Ozuna, J Balvin, Chita, and Daddy Yankee.
Just months afterward, in November 2023, Towers delivered his second project of the year, LVEU: Vive la Tuya...No la Mi. The release entered the Top Ten of Top Latin Albums and presented the artist performing alone across a wide stylistic spectrum that encompassed reggaeton, trap, bachata, merengue, and neo-New Jack Swing. In 2024 he reached the Hot 100 for the first time through his non-album collaboration with Bad Bunny on “Adivino.”
